Tumblr Alternatives

With the recent change in Tumblr’s policy on nudity many creators (and visitors) are looking for an alternative platform to keep on going.

I have listed alternative platforms which came to my mind and did some basic research to help you to make an educated choice.

What made tumblr attractive in the past was a unique combination of

1. a large user base, which both provides plenty of new content and people eager to look/like/reblog it (in other words: A large audience to the creators work)
2. Liberal rules on nudity
3. Wed and mobile application
4. No costs

This combination is hard to find again.

My verdicts are for now:

• Ello or deviantArt for creators who wnt to share their work among other creators
• Vero for people who are essentially looking for a “nsfw-Instagram”
• VK.com: For the adventurous
• 500px: I want to post or view really good photographed breasts
• Flickr: I just ant du dump all my hotos somewhere to share it by link
• Artfolio, Website: I need a “business card” to share by link

• Description/Claim: “The Creators Network”. Ello
  is a global community of artists dedicated to creative excellence. Built by

• Type of Service: Instagramm-Like. Kinda.

  share it with. Just like we do in real life.

  (?): After further researching our available options, we decided to adjust our
  policy in Germany to enable pictures rated as “moderate” to be visible for our
  users starting today. We’ve received plenty of feedback from our members on
  this and hopefully this change helps address some of the desires expressed
  while still complying with legal requirements regarding age verification.
