This post got me thinking.
I’ve written a lot recently about what it means to be a Dom, and have touched on a few things about what it means to be a submissive. That posts hits on one of the most important qualities: Strength.
A true submissive is strong by nature. She is capable of handling herself. Submission is not an act of weakness, but rather an act of trust. To give yourself over completely to another not only takes balls, but it takes an immense amount of trust and strength. Why strength? How many of you out there have seen this:
My dom does x, y, and z, and it know it’s bad, but I can’t (or won’t) leave.
Just as it takes strength to submit, it takes strength to stand up and say “this is wrong.” Especially to someone who you’ve given yourself to so completely.
Submission, in part, is about giving into your Dominant’s every whim; trusting that he will not abuse his power. But if he does, it is your responsibility to step up or step out. And that takes balls.
